ACEG Transmission Time Webinar: Checking In on the State of Regional Transmission Planning

A year after publishing the initial transmission planning and development report card, Americans for a Clean Energy Grid (ACEG) issued a new interim review of regional transmission planning processes updates planning practices and reforms that are underway.
Across the country, several regions have initiated steps to reform their long-term regional transmission planning processes. Many of those reforms are promising improvements. However, despite the promise, many of these reforms are in their early stages of implementation and it is not clear what the final outcome will be or how it will impact actual transmission development.
In regions where planning reforms have not been initiated, that may change going into 2025 as transmission planners are currently supposed to comply with the long-term regional transmission planning requirements in FERC Order No. 1920 by June 2025. This webinar checked in on the current state of transmission planning and highlight how each region is handling compliance so far.
