July 3, 2025 (Washington, DC) –
Americans for a Clean Energy Grid (ACEG) Executive Director Christina Hayes released the following statement following final passage of the Republican reconciliation bill:
“As the dust settles from the Republican reconciliation bill, ACEG and our coalition of transmission advocates urge lawmakers from both parties to come together now on pragmatic, durable solutions to upgrade and build out the electric grid. Permitting reform can and should be a bipartisan focus for members in the coming weeks and months that remain in this Congress.
“America’s transmission grid is at a crossroads. No matter your politics, the reality is clear: demand for electricity is rising. Whether that power comes from natural gas, coal, nuclear, wind, or solar, none of it will reach homes, businesses, or data centers without a modern, reliable, and expanded transmission network. As technology advances, we must ensure our grid can keep up – or risk losing America’s dominance in the global competition for advanced manufacturing and artificial intelligence.
“We remain committed to working with leaders on both sides of the aisle to find common ground and deliver the 21st-century grid that American families and businesses deserve. Transmission is not a red state or blue state issue, it’s an American security and economic imperative.”
