Wednesday, July 30 (Washington, D.C.) — Today, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee held a markup for the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024 and passed the bill out of committee. ACEG Executive Director Christina Hayes issued the following statement:
“Today’s markup of the Energy Permitting Reform Act was a meaningful step towards ensuring a more reliable, cost-effective, and secure energy grid,” said Christina Hayes, Executive Director at Americans for a Clean Energy Grid. “With only 55 new miles of transmission built in 2023, we are pleased that the committee is making strides in streamlining the permitting process for transmission to more efficiently build out the electric grid. We urge Congress to maintain this momentum as the bill moves forward in the Senate.”
