Thursday, September 28 (Washington, D.C.) — ACEG Executive Director Christina Hayes issued the following statement on today’s hearing before the House Energy and Commerce Committee focused on examining the state of grid reliability.
“I applaud the Committee for engaging in an in-depth discussion around the current state of our nation’s grid, and for recognizing the importance of reliable and affordable electricity for consumers and our economy. Transmission is crucial to ensuring that homes and businesses across the country can access the dependable, low-cost power they need. I encourage the Committee to hold additional hearings more focused on the holistic role transmission must play in our energy future.
“Now is the time to pass meaningful bipartisan reform that improves how transmission is planned, permitted, and paid for. Upgrading our grid is essential to supporting the long-term security of our energy system and meeting the electricity needs of the 21st century.”
