Friday, March 22, 2024 (Washington, D.C.) — ACEG Executive Director Christina Hayes released the following statement after President Biden’s nominees to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) testified before the Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee on Thursday. All three nominees — Judy Chang, David Rosner and Lindsay See — emphasized the importance of transmission as a solution to both rising power demand and extreme weather events that threaten reliability.
“Americans for a Clean Energy Grid is pleased to see broad agreement among the pending FERC nominees on the role that transmission plays in addressing growing power demand and strengthening the reliability of the electric grid. We are also encouraged by all three nominees’ acknowledgement that interregional transmission is one important solution to making the grid more reliable from extreme weather events and their commitment to working on this issue if confirmed.”
“We look forward to working with these nominees and hope to see them quickly confirmed. FERC operates most effectively with a full slate of commissioners.”
