Tuesday, September 3 (Washington, D.C.) — Bill Parsons has joined Americans for a Clean Energy Grid (ACEG) as Chief Advocacy Officer.
Parsons was previously Senior Vice President and Political Director for the American Clean Power Association (ACP) since 2022. He has extensive experience both in clean energy policy and on Capitol Hill. Prior to his tenure at ACP, he spent nearly three years as Chief Operating Officer for the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE). He also spent 14 years on Capitol Hill, where he served as Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for then-Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and also led the House Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Caucus. A graduate of Harvard University, Parsons lives in Bethesda, MD.
“I am thrilled that Bill Parsons has joined ACEG. His unparalleled experience on Capitol Hill and extensive track record working on behalf of the clean energy industry makes him the perfect fit for ACEG’s mission of expanding transmission and modernizing the electric grid. Parsons’ expertise complements ACEG’s staff perfectly, and we’re excited to join forces to secure policies that strengthen the grid, increase reliability, and lower energy costs for consumers,” said ACEG Executive Director Christina Hayes.
Parsons added the following:
“I’m proud to have spent the last two decades working to advance America’s clean energy economy. While we’ve made significant progress, modernizing the nation’s power grid is key to unlocking broader deployment, lowering energy costs, creating good-paying jobs, and keeping people safe during extreme weather events. It’s an exciting time to be joining the talented team at ACEG, and I look forward to collaborating with policymakers and stakeholders across the political spectrum to solve this national challenge.”
From Jason Grumet, CEO of the American Clean Power Association:
“In his over two years at ACP, Bill has made great contributions across a wide variety of issues, from federal and state strategy and advocacy to collaboration with organized labor to tax policy. We wish him well and look forward to continued collaboration in his new role focused on federal policy and transmission.”
