Wednesday, July 24 (Washington, D.C.) — Today, the Department of Energy (DOE) announced selections for its Transmission Siting and Economic Development (TSED) Grants Program. This is a $760 million investment from the Inflation Reduction Act designed to accelerate siting and permitting for high-capacity, interstate transmission projects by supporting the work of state permitting agencies and investing in economic development in impacted communities. The first round of selections includes $370 million for 20 projects across 16 states.
ACEG Executive Director Christina Hayes issued the following statement:
“ACEG firmly supports DOE’s investment in transmission through the TSED program. The selections announced today provide benefits, as well as support for workforce training and engagement, to communities hosting large transmission projects that will boost interregional transmission capacity. This is a valuable step towards building the expanded and modernized transmission system America needs, which will provide consumers access to low-cost energy, prevent dangerous power outages, and create good-paying jobs. We look forward to working with interested parties on the TSED-funded projects into the future.”
